Description
Students will love these activities on gravity in the solar system. Students will make a model to describe the role of gravity in the motions within galaxies and in the solar system. Parts of this can be used for Distance Learning.
This resource is aligned with NGSS MS ESS1-2
Develop and use a model to describe the role of gravity in the motions within galaxies and the solar system.
From the Earth’s Place in the Universe in the Next Generation Science Standards
MS ESS1-2
Students will learn about the impact of gravity and inertia on creating orbits. Students will read three pages of informational text and answer comprehension questions. Students will experience a lab activity and a demonstration that will help further explore the concepts of gravity and inertia. Students will make models and evaluate them. They will think critically and explain their thinking on response pages and interactive notebook flaps. This resource also includes lesson plans, lab directions, lab write-ups, note-taking guides, QR Code Research on the Solar System, Video Links, and more. and
