Description
The Fossil Record: Students will analyze the patterns in the fossil record to see that the Earth’s surface has changed over time, some organisms are now extinct and some organisms have changed over time. The fossil record provides evidence of biological evolution on Earth. Students will analyze this evidence and make inferences about life long ago. They will look for patterns in the fossil record. This is a huge unit with 66 pages and slides!
This unit includes:
- An informative slide show on The Fossil Record
- Strategic Notetaking Guide
- Five pages of reading passages
- Response pages
- Interactive Notebook Inserts
- Task cards on analyzing the fossil record
- A quiz
- Answer Keys for everything!
Addresses the following standards:
NGSS MS-LS4-1. Analyze and interpret data for patterns in the fossil record that document the existence, diversity, extinction, and change of life forms throughout the history of life on Earth under the assumption that natural laws operate today as in the past.
And Utah SEEd Standard 7.5.2 Analyze and interpret data for patterns in the fossil record that document the existence, diversity, extinction, and change of life forms throughout the history of life on Earth, under the assumption that natural laws operate today as in the past. (LS4.A, ESS2.E)
