Description
Students will lear about Pangea and the theory of Continental Drift…and what Wegener got right with his hypothesis, and also what was incomplete. Earth’s surface has changed over time. Students will use fossil evidence to examine changes to Earth’s surface. Students will learn about the theory of Pangea and Continental Drift and how scientific evidence supports plate tectonics as a more complete and scientific explanation for the movement of continents. Students will enjoy this hands-on, research-based project to get students thinking about fossil records and how they help to show geologic changes over time.
This unit includes:
- slide show on Continental Drift
- printable puzzle activity
- response pages
- Two lesson plans
- interactive notebook flaps
- Informational Text on Plate Tectonics and Seafloor Spreading
- Slide Show on Why Plate Tectonics is a better theory than Continental Drift
- Critical Thinking Pages
