Chemical Reactions- Students will love observing the properties of substances before and after a chemical reaction has taken place! Students will love learning about different types of chemical reactions!
Looking for a little help covering NGSS MS-PS1-2 in your middle school science class?
This complete unit will save you lots of time and energy and keep your class engaged! They will love these exciting experiments with chemical reactions!
Your students will love these FIVE Chemical Reaction Labs!

This is a LARGE science unit with a variety of activities!
Students will observe substances before and after interacting to see if a chemical reaction has occurred. Students will learn about the signs of chemical reactions, chemical equations, and types of chemical reactions while completing five hands-on science investigations!

This unit includes a 30-page PowerPoint slideshow on chemical reactions and their properties (with a strategic note-taking guide), five labs with clear directions, follow-up pages, an informational text article, interactive notebook inserts, a quiz, and answer keys for everything!

I used every single part of this amazing unit! My students loved these labs and the materials were easy to find. Most of the materials were just stuff I could find around the house and in my garage. The slide show and follow up pages were also great!

Designed to cover NGSS MS-PS1-2 and Utah SEEd 8.1.3.
Using this unit, you can be confident that you will cover everything you need to!
NGSS MS-PS1-2: Analyze and interpret data on the properties of substances before and after the substances interact to determine if a chemical reaction has occurred. [Clarification Statement: Examples of reactions could include burning sugar or steel wool, fat reacting with sodium hydroxide, and mixing zinc with hydrogen chloride.]
Utah SEEd 8.1.3: Plan and conduct an investigation and then analyze and interpret the data to identify patterns in changes in a substance’s properties to determine if a chemical reaction has occurred. Examples could include changes in properties such as color, density, flammability, odor, solubility, or state. (PS1.A, PS1.B)

My students loved the labs and I found the slide show and strategic note-taking guide super helpful. This author does such a great job aligning to standards. I have purchased several of Lynda’s resources and they are always terrific!
