Teaching students to write a strong Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning (CER) response takes practice. One simple way to support students is to give them a visual reminder they can refer to while they work.
I created a FREE CER Poster Set that you can print and display in your science classroom. The posters break CER into three easy-to-understand parts:
Claim: Answer the question clearly.
Evidence: Use facts, data, observations, or information to support the claim.
Reasoning: Explain why the evidence supports the claim using science ideas.
Free CER Posters for Your Classroom
The free set includes full-color CER posters and ink-friendly black-and-white versions. Each poster includes student-friendly definitions, prompts, and sentence starters students can use during labs, investigations, graph analysis, and written science responses.
Print the posters on standard 8.5 × 11-inch paper or cardstock and hang them together where students can easily reference them. You can also laminate them to use year after year.
