Use this unit to help teach your class about heredity and Punnett Squares!
Students will love the game on random traits with monsters that is included! This is a low-prep unit, and all you need to play the game is a paperclip and a pencil.

In this unit, students will use Punnett Squares to determine percentages of probably phenotypes in offspring.
Your download includes a heredity and punnett square slide show, follow-up pages with Punnett Square practice, the monster Punnett Square activities, and answer keys for everything.

With over 60 slides and pages, this unit will take your class about four days to complete.

This is a standards-aligned unit!
Using this unit, you can be sure you’re covering MS LS3-2 and Utah SEEd 7.4.1.
MS LS3-2: Develop and use a model to describe why asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information and sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation.
Utah SEEd 7.4.1: Develop and use a model to explain the effect that different types of reproduction have on genetic variation, including asexual and sexual reproduction.

I used this for review and practice. My 8th graders should already know this information, but with the pandemic, they seemed to have missed it entirely. This was a fun and easy way to catch them up in this area without being too babyish.

Great for practice and review of Punnett squares and heredity/genetics. Students loved the Monster Spinning activity and the worksheets were really helpful.
